Steven Passik, PhD

After a 25 year academic and clinical career at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, University of Kentucky, and Vanderbilt University, Dr. Passik has spent the last 5 years in industry, and most recently joined Collegium Pharmaceuticals. Dr. Passik is the VP of Scientific Affairs, Education, and Policy. Dr. Passik is presently planning multiple projects in medication monitoring and pharmacogenetic testing and outcomes in addiction treatment. His research has focused on psychiatric aspects of cancer and cancer symptom management and the interface of pain management and addiction. He has served as editor and reviewer for multiple journals in pain and psycho-oncology.

Mark Garofoli, PharmD, MBA, BCGP, CPE

Dr. Mark Garofoli is a 2004 graduate from the Pitt School of Pharmacy and a 2008 graduate of the Strayer University MBA program, and is a Board-Certified Geriatric Pharmacist (BCGP), Certified Pain Educator (CPE), and Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist (CTTs), with APhA certificate training in Immunizations and Medication Therapy Management (MTM). Dr. Garofoli has consulted as CDC grant reviewer, an expert witness in multiple criminal and civil court cases, multiple advisory boards, and is the host of the Pain Pod on the Pharmacy Podcast Network while also developing and conducting presentations across the country revolving around pain management, substance-use disorder (addiction), substances of abuse, and drug diversion.

Amanda Zimmerman, PA-C

Amanda Zimmerman is a Physician Assistant with 21 years pain management experience, having opened West Forsyth Pain Management in 2011. Ms. Zimmerman is involved in educational efforts across the specialty. She has been involved on the program committee of the Pain Society of the Carolinas since it was founded 12 years ago. Ms. Zimmerman is a co-chair on the Advanced Practice Provider committee at the American Academy of Pain Medicine. Amanda is currently the principal investigator on a phase IV clinical trial. She attended SUNY New Paltz, earning a bachelor of arts in biology, and attended Hahnemann University for her physician assistant training.

Richard Rauck, MD

Dr. Rauck is board certified in pain medicine and anesthesiology. He has been actively engaged in clinical research in pain medicine, speaks frequently at many national and international professional meetings, and has an active clinical practice in pain management. Currently, Dr. Rauck is practicing pain management at Carolinas Pain Institute and is the medical director for The Center for Clinical Research.

Scott Kendrick, MD

Dr. Kendrick is a native of Birmingham, Alabama. He received an undergraduate degree from The Citadel and a medical degree from The University of Alabama at Birmingham. After completing an internship in General Surgery, Dr. Kendrick completed his residency in Anesthesiology. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Pain Medicine. Dr. Kendrick has been practicing exclusively in pain management since 2002. His practice focuses on interventional techniques, including, injections, kyphoplasty procedures, and spinal cord stimulators. He is also experienced in workers’ compensation claims.

Stephanie G. Vanterpool, MD, MBA, FASA

Dr. Stephanie Vanterpool is Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Director of Comprehensive Pain Services at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. Dr. Vanterpool is also heavily involved in state and national advocacy initiatives. She is the immediate past President of the Tennessee Pain Society, and also serves on the Board of directors for the North American Neuromodulation Society (NANS) and is the Co-Chair of the NANS Diversity and Outreach Committee (DOC) and treasurer for the NANS Women in Neuromodulation (WIN).

Ike Ogbaa, MD

Ike Ogbaa, MD is an Internal Medicine Physician and Pharmaceutical Executive with over 17 years of Clinical and Industry experience. During his time in clinical practice he was a medical director for multiple pain medicine clinics and was also Hospitalist physician taking care of patients with Sickle Cell disease pain crises. He has held increasing levels of Medical Affairs leadership responsibilities most recently at Merck, Sanofi, Bayer, and GSK where he is currently the Executive Director for Medical Affairs in the US. He graduated from Yale University with a Bachelor in Arts in Psychobiology, completed his Medical School training at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson medical school in NJ and his Internal Medicine residency training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

Derek Donegan, MD, MBA

Dr. Donegan is an associate professor of the Department of Orthopaedics at Penn Medicine and University of Pennsylvania Health System. He is an experienced Clinician Leader with a demonstrated history of working in the hospital & health care industry. He is skilled in leadership, innovation, feedback, clinical research, medical education, and orthopaedic surgery. Dr. Donegan is a strong administrative professional with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) focused in Business Administration and Management, General from Temple University - Fox School of Business and Management.

Yeshvant A. Navalgund, MD

Dr. Navalgund is the co-founder of DNA Advanced Pain Treatment Center as well as DrYeshMD.com. DNA consisted of multiple offices throughout Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas prior to its integration into a new health care network.  DrYeshMD.com is a consulting service developed by Dr. Navalgund to assist individuals or companies in distilling complex medical information into easy to understand concepts. 

Bret Hamilton

Bret retired from the US Drug Enforcement Administration as a Supervisory Special Agent. During his 23 years of service, Bret served in places like Afghanistan, Bolivia and Honduras conducting counter-narcotics operations alongside foreign-national police forces. Before retiring, Bret led DEA’s Tactical Diversion Squad for the State of Alabama and later served as the Special Agent in Charge of the State of Alabama. It was during these final years with DEA that Bret led investigations involving more than 100 undercover operations into medical clinics and the convictions of 15 medical doctors. Bret is a US Marine Corps veteran, having served in the 1st Gulf War, Afghanistan, and Iraq.

Dr. Abraham Hartzema, Chief Scientific Officer, Sure Med Compliance

Dr. Abraham G. Hartzema is a professor and Eminent Scholar Emeritus at the University of Florida in the Department of Pharmaceutical Outcomes & Policy. He occupied the Perry A. Foote Chair in Health Outcomes Research, and was a professor in Epidemiology and Biostatistics in the College of Public Health and the College of Medicine. In the year 2007, he was awarded the University of Florida Foundation Research award. Dr. Hartzema has been widely published on various aspects of prescription drug safety, including several books on Pharmacoepidemiology.

Mazi Rasulnia

Mazi Rasulnia is the Founder of Pack Health: a leading patient engagement company that provides personalized education, tools, and support for chronic disease patients. An avid researcher, he has authored more than 85 publications since completing his bachelors of science in Biology at the College of William and Mary. He completed his MPH and MBA at the University of Alabama, Birmingham, where he went on to complete his PhD in health services administration and a fellowship at the Center for Outcomes and Effectiveness Research and Education (COERE). He then began his corporate career at Outcomes Inc, which provides company assessment services in the health education marketplace within the United States and globally. He served as President of Outcomes LLC from 2003, founded M Consulting LLC in 2013, and launched Pack Health in 2014.

Rehan Waheed, DO

Dr. Rehan Waheed is a fellowship-trained Interventional Physiatrist born and raised in Hagerstown, MD. He was most recently the Medical Director at the Parkway Neuroscience and Spine Institute prior to joining Valley Pain Consultants. Dr. Waheed specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of painful conditions of the back, neck, shoulders, knees, ankles and hips. He also has a special interest in neuromodulation and speaks nationally on the subject. Dr. Waheed is currently a clinical assistant professor for the West Virginia University School of Medicine and sits on the Editorial Board of the Pain Physician journal. He has previously served on the National Resident Physician Council of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as well as on the GME Council at Tufts Medical Center.

Mark Coleman, MD

Mark Coleman, MD is a board certified anesthesiologist and pain physician.  He currently serves as the Director of Clinical Services at National Spine and Pain Centers, the largest practice of its type in the United States.  In addition, to his expertise in the growth and delivery of healthcare services, his specific clinical expertise include the neural transmission of pain and minimally invasive treatments for spinal stenosis.  Dr. Coleman serves as a trusted advisor to both the pharmaceutical and medical device industries. He is on the board of directors of Axsome Therapeutics (Nasdaq: AXSM) and Enalare Therapeutics and serves as a consultant/scientific advisor to Abbott Laboratories, Vertos Medical and Averitas Pharmaceuticals.

David E. Reece DO, FAAPM&R, FAANEM

Dr. Reece is an Interventional Spine & Pain Physiatrist. He is an Osteopathic Physician (DO) obtaining his Medical Degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. His primary specialty Board Certification is in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) with additional subspecialty Board Certifications in Interventional Spine & Pain Medicine, as well as Neuromuscular Electrodiagnostics. He completed his internship and residency at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) and completed an ACGME accredited joint Interventional Pain Fellowship at WRNMMC with Johns Hopkins, and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Dr. Reece specializes in treating complex pain and neuromuscular disorders, acute and chronic musculoskeletal sports injuries, traumatic brain and spinal cord injury, headaches, and polytrauma amputee rehabilitation.
